Vaporesso XROS vs OXVA XLIM Pro: Ultimate Comparison of Pod Systems

By Ziyaad Galvaan January 27, 2024

The Vaporesso XROS and OXVA XLIM Pro are two of the most recognisable pod systems in South Africa. Both are compact, draw-activated, and built for the MTL vaper — but they take different approaches to performance, airflow, and usability. Here's a direct comparison to help you decide.

Note: Both of these pod ranges have been updated since this article was first written. Krem currently stocks the XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini. The OXVA XLIM range includes the Xlim 3 Ultra and Xlim Pro 3. The comparison below covers the core XROS vs XLIM Pro design philosophy — specs apply to these original models.

Vaporesso XROS — simplicity and flavour

The XROS is fully auto-draw — no buttons, no wattage settings, no decision-making after you've filled the pod. It runs the AXON chip for consistent power delivery and flavour. The slim aluminium body makes it one of the most portable options in its class. Adjustable airflow lets you dial in from tight MTL to slightly more open. The 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω pod options cover different nicotine and draw preferences. The XROS prioritises ease of use above all else, and that remains its defining strength across every generation of the device.

OXVA XLIM Pro — control and versatility

The XLIM Pro adds a button and wattage adjustment to a similarly compact form factor. You can step wattage up or down to control vapour temperature and intensity. The 0.6Ω pod option — not available on the base XROS — allows a warmer, more vapour-forward draw while still being pocket-sized. The zinc alloy body is heavier than the XROS but feels premium. OXVA's leak-proof pod design is particularly strong, making it a good option for vapers who've had leaking issues with other devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Vaporesso XROS or OXVA XLIM Pro better for a cigarette switcher?+
Both work well. The XROS is slightly easier to start with because it's fully auto-draw and has no settings to adjust — just fill and inhale. The XLIM Pro adds wattage control which some switchers find useful once they've been vaping for a few weeks. Use a 50mg salt nic pod with either device for the best cigarette-like throat hit and nicotine delivery.
Do XROS pods work in the XLIM Pro?+
No. Vaporesso XROS pods and OXVA XLIM pods are not cross-compatible. Each device requires its own manufacturer's pods. This is important to check when you're buying replacement pods — always match the pod to your specific device model.
