The Northern Cape is the biggest province in the country and the thinnest on vape shops. It is also the hottest, and that is not just small talk: heat is genuinely the main thing working against your e-liquid and your battery out here. Most guides ignore it. This one does not.

Heat is your real problem, not the device

Upington regularly pushes past 40 degrees in summer, and Kimberley is not far behind. Three things happen to vape gear in that kind of heat, and all three are avoidable.

Your e-liquid goes off faster. Nicotine oxidises when it meets heat, light and air. That is what turns a clear liquid amber and flattens the flavour. It is not spoiled or dangerous, it is just past its best, and in Northern Cape summers it happens in weeks rather than months if the bottle sits somewhere warm and bright. Warm liquid leaks more. Heat thins e-liquid, so it wicks faster and finds its way out of a pod more easily. A device that is perfectly dry in winter can start weeping in January. Fill a little below the brim in summer, store it upright, and if it floods, this takes a minute to clear.

Heat shortens battery life, and a parked car is the worst place in the province. A closed car in Upington sun gets far hotter than the air outside. Lithium cells degrade faster at high temperatures, and in the worst case a hot cell is a safety problem rather than just a short-lived one. Never leave a device on a dashboard, in a glovebox, or in a bakkie seat in the sun. Take it with you. Match the pod to your exact device

Pods are the single biggest thing we ship to the Northern Cape, and out here a wrong order costs you another four days. Pods are not interchangeable between brands, and sometimes not between models of the same brand. Check before you buy.

  • Order deeper than you need. A three-month pod supply costs one delivery instead of three
  • Keep one sealed disposable as a backup so a late parcel never puts you back on cigarettes
  • Buy a spare battery before the old one dies, not after
  • Ask before you order if you are unsure about pod fitment. Four days is a long time to wait for the wrong part
  • Store the whole order cool and dark the day it lands, especially in summer

Frequently asked questions

How long does delivery to Kimberley or Upington take?+
Most Northern Cape orders arrive within 3 to 4 business days after dispatch from Cape Town. Kimberley and Upington are usually at the quicker end. Springbok, Calvinia, Kuruman and the smaller Namaqualand and Kalahari towns can add a day depending on the courier's run. You get a tracking number on dispatch.
Will the heat damage my order in transit?+
A few days in transit will not ruin e-liquid. What does the damage is weeks of storage somewhere warm and bright after it arrives. Bring the parcel inside rather than leaving it in the sun at the gate, then store bottles sealed in a cool dark cupboard. Sealed pods and disposables are more robust, but the same rule applies.
My e-liquid has turned darker. Is it still usable?+
Darkening is normal oxidation of the nicotine and happens faster in heat and light. The liquid is not unsafe, but the flavour will have dulled and the throat hit can feel harsher. If it tastes flat, it has aged rather than gone bad. Storing it cooler and darker slows it down considerably.
How do I know which pods fit my device?+
Match the pod to your exact model, not just the brand. XROS pods fit the whole Vaporesso XROS range. OXVA XLIM pods fit the Xlim family, but the NeXLIM Go and the V-Prime each take their own. The Voopoo Argus G3 Mini takes Argus V2 pods and the full Argus G3 does not use the same ones. Message us with your device name before ordering if you are not sure.
Can I collect in person?+
Not in the Northern Cape. Our own shop is in Pinelands, Cape Town, at 29 Union Avenue, open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Krem products are also carried by independently run partner stores in Kuils River, Plumstead and Lansdowne. Everywhere else is delivery.
